Clad in black robes and with confident smile, 94 students of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur received their degrees and graduated from the institute on Monday.
Flashes of the cameras and expressions of emotions of joy and the pains of separation all marked the formal closure of the course at the third annual convocation of IIM, Raipur. The students congratulated each other and made promises to be in touch.
“As this was my last formal education, the connection with the institute will never fade away,” said Kaveri Sapra, who has worked for two years before she joined IIM, Raipur. Every student has also developed a close association with the faculty and juniors of the IIM and, “we will remain in touch even after we pass out from the institute,” she said.
The alumni association of the IIMs do more than just help people stay connected. They are the face of the institute and their performances in the corporate world bring in employers for their junior batches.
“If I perform well in my company, my bosses will connect with my institute. The tag of IIM alumni is a matter of pride and we will have to live up to its name,” said Rajat Katiyar of the graduating batch.
The social media will also keep the students united. Photos, posts and updates will make sure that the IIM family keeps a tab on happenings in students’ life.
“The students, professors and juniors are connected through social media and we will get regular updates from each other. Besides, our official e-mail IDs of the IIM will remain functional which will keep us posted about each and every event of the institute,” said Katiyar. The students attend the alumni meet which is conducted every year. Discussions are held during the meet to assess the performance of the alumni and the growth of the institute.
