Harmony and brotherhood were always present in Chhattisgarh's culture, making the state an island of peace. But in recent years, Naxalite violence spoilt the tranquility, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Monday.
He was addressing the Acharya Mahashraman Maryada Mahotsav 2021 organized at Jainam Manas Bhavan near the Swami Vivekananda Airport here. He sought blessings from the seer for peace, progress and prosperity in the state.
Baghel said it is admirable that Acharya Shree Mahashraman has visited Chhattisgarh after travelling 19 states, Nepal and Bhutan on foot.
The saints and seers have infused a culture of mutual coordination, compassion and brotherhood in the state. This is why the community has always favoured peace and non-violence, an official communication quoted Baghel as saying.
Acharya Shree Mahashraman said: "Let peace prevail in Chhattisgarh. Along with materialistic progress, the moral and spiritual development among the people should also take place."
The virtue of honesty should be instilled in students, he said, adding that only will the students be good citizens.
