In protest of the ghastly bus accident that occurred near Patewa of Mahasamund district on Monday, killing 14 people so far, the Raipur-Saraipali bus remained off the road on this route on Tuesday. Dilapidated condition of road, according to bus operators, was the reason for the accident.
General Secretary Chhattisgarh Yatayat Mahasangh Hazi Sharif Raja and vice president of the organisation Suryakant Shukla informed that starting from Arang, Saraipali till Sarangarh the condition of road is worse. Several times the ‘Mahasangh’ has informed officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) about the condition of road. Repairing of road could prevent road mishaps, the office bears claimed and added that however no heed has been paid to their complaints.
They further informed that on this route, about 80 buses run on daily basis and the road transport department has issued permit to complete the journey in about 3 to 4 hours. Under these circumstances, for reaching the destination, buses are forced to speed up in the weathered-roads, thereby, giving chances for accident. Meanwhile, the daily commuters had to face problem due to none-running of buses on this route.
