Buses between Raipur, Naya Raipur sought

More buses must ply between Raipur and Naya Raipur at regular intervals on every working day, demanded members of State Government employee Union on Sunday.

Jai Stambh Chowk is around 28 km far from Mantralay and other administration buildings in Naya Raipur, State chief of the union Veerendra Namdeo said. Areas like Tatibandh, Amanaka, Khamtarai etc are 40 km away from the administrative centre. Absence of public transport on this route is causing inconvenience to the public and they are left with no option other than over paying the auto rickshaw drivers.

Namdeo demanded that city buses from main squares in Raipur to Naya Raipur at regular intervals must be plied on every government working day. He also urged that permission to open eateries and vehicle repair stores at every half-a-kilometre on the route should be granted to the unemployed. This will reduce sufferings of citizens and liven-up Naya Raipur that presently wears a deserted look.

People who come to the State capital from other districts for official work do not have their personal vehicles. In absence of city buses, they are forced to pay more as auto rickshaw and taxi drivers do not charge according to the metre.
