The Bhilai Steel Plant’s Education Department is launching a number of new initiatives in a bid to enhance the quality of education in its schools.
The move is aimed at bringing in a spirit of competition among its students to prepare them well for the upcoming competitive exams, a BSP press release issued here stated.
As per the new initiatives, the Class-XI and XII students will appear in the first-ever Test of Proficiency (ToP) to be held immediately after the Half-Yearly Exams September 27, 2014. It will be a multiple-choice type test in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
The ToP will carry 40% weightage while the Half-Yearly will have 60% weightage. There will be two such tests, the second one in early December 2014 for Class-XII and February 2015 for Class-XI. The second test too will carry 40% weightage with the Model Exam (for Class-XII) and Annual Exam (for Class-XI) carrying 60% weightage.
All students of five BSP schools affiliated to CBSE will be eligible to take part in ToP. A combined merit list will be prepared and the top 25 performers of Class-XI and XII will be rewarded.
The ToP will prepare students for Engineering and Medical entrance exams. It may be recalled that BSP Senior Secondary School, Sector-10 has been conducting Mock Tests for Class-XI and XII students for more than 10 years now. For the first time it is being extended to BSP Senior Secondary School, Sector-4, 7, and Sector-6 No. 1 and 2.
For the fifth year in succession, the specialized NTSE Guidance Program will be held during the second and third weeks of October 2014 for Class-X students. Approximately 140 students will be selected for the program through a Screening Test to be held on September 29, 2014. Once again all students of the five schools will be eligible for the Screening Test.
These five schools include BSP Senior Secondary School, Sector-4, 7, 10 and Sector-6 No. 1 and 2. To ensure a level-playing field, a minimum of 15-20 students will be selected from each school.
The Education Department of BSP is also planning to conduct a Mock Test for NIFT and ClAT in November 2014 for the benefit of its Commerce and Humanities students. Details of this Mock Test shall be announced shortly.
