The Furnace Bottom of ‘Twin Hearth Furnace’ in SMS-1 was formally commissioned at the hands of Executive Director (Works) Y.K.Degan after the successful completion of its Capital Repair, BSP officials informed.
A function was organised on the occasion which was presided over by GM (SMS-1) Kamlendu Das.
On the occasion, the chief guest Y K Degan lauded the efforts of the employees in successfully completing the Capital Repair within the specified time limit.
Kamlendu Das, who presided over the function said that in the present scenario of steel making, such assignments and their completion is considered as of vital importance.
The SMS-1 being the premier shop in steel plant, associated with production process, it has to play a key role in the production of various products, Das stated.
The completion of this highly challenging assignment was made possible much earlier by adopting the ‘Selective Dismantling’ method. Under it, the innovative modification was made in the Brick lining Pattern of Furnace Bottom, which was then named as ‘Bath Tub Design’. With the implementation of such innovative method, the working capacity and reliability of Furnace has increased considerably, the officials informed.
