After cold repairs, the Battery no. 9 of 'CO & CCD' was inaugurated by T.B. Singh ED (Works) at the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) recently.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Arjun Prasad GM (CO & CCD), J K De DGM I/c (Proj-Coke), K R Pal Chowdhary GM (MECON) along with other senior officers of CO&CCD, Projects Department-Coke Zone, M/s MECON, representatives from allied packages, Contractors and consultant M/s CET, a BSP press release informed.
This project package was executed through turn key mode by Project-Coke Zone of BSP, CET being the consultant and the Contractors mainly M/s MECON.M/s BEC,M/s Sterling & Wilson, M/s Instrumentation ltd, M/s Bhilai TechNeeds, M/s Bengal Tools ,M/s KoolAqua Towers and expert supervision from M/s CUI Ukraine for the project.
The project was a challenge wherein the various activities of installation and erection were being executed structured across 11 packages, it informed.
The jobs had to be carefully executed, as Battery no. 10 alongside had to be kept running undisturbed. The Coal Chemicals route was also made ready with Battery Proper.
The project was accomplished and the first charging was done smoothly with dedicated efforts put in by the team collective on March 27, 2017. Various modifications suggested by the shop were incorporated.
The commissioning of this Battery will facilitate operation of new Blast Furnace no. 8 for its raw material needs.
