The Coke Oven Battery No 4 of the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) was re-commissioned and inaugurated on Tuesday by company’s CEO M Ravi, a BSP Press release informed.
The Oven was kept in Hot Conservation from January 5, 2017 to replace the Hydraulic Main and Y19 coal blend gallery.
The replacement jobs in the battery were completed and the battery was charged on September 18 this year.
Utilising the opportunity of less coke requirement in Blast Furnaces during the capital repair period of Blast Furnace no 7, CO&CCD took up major jobs like changing of COB No 4 Hydraulic Main, revamping of Coke Pusher Car-7, replacing of coke conveyor gallery of K-4 and coke oven gas main bleeder.
Replacement of Y19 coal gallery was also carried out during the same period with the help of Plant’s Project Department.
The above multiple repairs were executed by team consisting of GSV Subramanian, DGM I/c (Batt,Coal & H&R), GA Rao, DGM I/c (CRG), I Rajan, DGM I/c (M&S), AK Khare, DGM (CCD), AK Gupta, DGM (CRG-R), Vijay Kumar, DGM, (CRG-M), SB Patil, DGM (CCD), Rajendra Ram, DGM (CRG-M), Jhagar Singh, DGM (Coal), OP Bhatt, DGM (Batts), GM Arun Kumar, DGM (R&M), Tarun Kanrar, DGM (R&M), Rajiv Shrivastava, DGM (MM-Plg HK Chouhan, DGM (M/M-Batteries), OP Sharma, DGM (E/M), Atul Goswami, AGM (H&R), BC Mandal, AGM (Battery) and RK Das, AGM (CRG-M).
The Y19 gallery replacement was done and completed under the supervision of S. Balraj, DGM presently working in Blast Furnace and K Dikshitulu, DGM (Proj-Coke). The activities of the repairs were executed by their respective team members.
J Arjuna Prasad, GM (CO&CCD) guided the coke oven collective for early completion of repairs with the combined contribution of various agencies like Contract Cell, Finance, Material Management, Energy Management, CED, Instrumentation and other departments.
With the commissioning of COB 4 after replacement of Hydraulic Main, revamping of Coke Pusher Car-7, replacing of coke conveyor gallery of K-4 and coke oven gas main bleeder and replacement of Y19 coal blend gallery, production facilities of Bhilai Steel Plant have been further strengthened.
