BSP workers ignore strike call; report for duty

Published on:

The Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) workforce yet again lived up to its reputation of always responding to the call of duty over the call for striking work on September 2, 2016, by resolutely and energetically rendering support to the Plant’s endeavour for higher production and productivity, a company press release issued here informed on Friday.

Total attendance recorded at Bhilai Steel Plant’s production units, the ongoing project units, Non-Works and the Captive Mines in the A, General (G) and B Shifts was over 97%. This was despite appeals made by representatives of Trade Unions, to workers to join the 24-hour Nation-wide strike.

The Management of Bhilai Steel Plant and the local Administration had made elaborate preparations in view of the nation-wide general strike call.

Towards this end, the Management of the Plant had made arrangements at various levels to ensure that the committed employees did not face any inconvenience on their way to their work place. As a consequence of the elaborate preparations, there was no interruption nor any unpleasant situation arose and the production continued normal and unhindered, it informed.

The primary reason for this is employees’ dedication towards their duty and a strong commitment to keep the production process going uninterruptedly, the press release informed.

An important feature of the day was that a large number of retired employees of Bhilai Steel Plant volunteered to render free service to the Plant and gathered at the Human Resources Development Department. They were welcomed by Shri M Ravi, CEO, BSP RK Prasad, GM I/c (P&A), Vijay Mairal, DGM (PR), Siddharth Dubey, DGM I/c (HRD) and saluted them for their indomitable spirit and whole-heartedly thanked them.
