Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the largest unit of the public sector SAIl, on Saturday launched a campaign for imparting training in safety measures to contract workers.

The plant officials said that although BSP is committed for improving production, productivity, profit, cost control and also the welfare of employees, but it is equally concerned for ensuring the safety of its regular employees and also that of the contract workers.

During the month-long Safety Training programme, the contract workers deployed at various departments and shops under BSP to be imparted safety training, based on the nature of work and assignments, for which they have been employed under different contractors.

Everyday 145 to 150 contract workers will attend the training, which has to be imparted by using audio-visual devises including documentary films and also the power-point presentations on safety at the worksite and also regarding traffic safety.

Apart from Safety Officers from various Departments under BSP, other executives who are specialists in certain technical aspects will also impart training to the contract workers while making them aware about the importance of abiding by safety regulations.
