To mark the "World Blood Donor Day" on Tuesday, the Pathology Department of JlN Hospital & Research Centre here organised a blood donation camp at the hospital premises. The chief guest on the occasion was M Ravi, ED (Works) and I/c Projects.
The Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) inaugurated the camp in the morning by officials and employess donating blood on the occasion. Throughout the day, there was a steady stream of donors who came forward to donate blood. The 'World Blood Donor Day' is observed on June 14 across the globe, a BSP press release informed.
The inaugural function on the "World Blood Donor Day" was later held at the Conference Hall of JlN Hospital & Research Centre of Bhilai Steel Plant.
The function was attended by doctors, nurses, DNB and medical staff of JlN Hospital & Research Centre, students and faculty of the College of Nursing, Bhilai.
Especially invited on the occasion were voluntary blood donors and recipients of such blood donations. An important highlight of the function as the felicitation of multiple voluntary blood donors by the recipients of such donations.
Chief Guest Dr Nitin Madhusudhan Nagarkar, Director AIIMS, Raipur was greatly appreciative of the Medical & Health Service Department of Bhilai Steel Plant for its initiative in associating with the World Blood Donors Day programme by spreading public awareness in line with the theme of World Blood Donors Day 2016 "Bloodconnects us all".
Present on the occasion were Dr Subodh Hiran, Advisor, Medical, Directors (Medical & Health Services) Dr Ashok Ghorpade, Dr (Ms) Sujata Hiran, Dr SK Issar, Dr MK Dwivedi. Also present were Dr M Ravindranath, Jt Director (M&HS), Dr ManishaKango, Sr Deputy Director, Dr Raju Bhaisare, Sr Consultant, Dr Gurmeet Singh, ADMO, senior doctors and Nursing Staff.
