Township administration department of the Bhilai Steel Plant launched a massive encroachment removal drive to liberate its residential units from the occupation of encroachers. So far 11 residential quarters were liberated on Friday.
With a view to drive out the illegal occupants, demolition squad of the BSP Township administration reached Risali area and asked the illegal occupants to vacate the quarters.
The team succeeded in removing encroachment from 11 quarters without using any force or demolition thanks to the help extended by its own employees and those who have been allotted quarters legally.
Notably, the township administration had served notice to these illegal occupants a month back and also gave advice them to vacate the houses without forcing the administration to use force against them. Some of the encroachers vacated the BSP housing units on their own but many continued ignoring the ultimatum forcing the officials to launch the removal drive.
According to BSP officials the drive will continue till liberation of all the housing units from the occupation of encroachers. According to a rough estimate about 250 housing units are under the possession of illegal occupants in Risali area alone.
