The 54th Foundation Day of the Bhilai Steel Plant’s C & IT’s (Computing and Information Technology department) was celebrated at a function at Bhilai Niwas.
The chief guest of the function was M Ravi, CEO Bhilai Steel Plant. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion were MK Barman, ED (P & A), general managers of the plant and Director, M&HS. The special invitees were ex-HODs of C & IT department and other executives of the department who had superannuated from the department and are currently residing in Bhilai. The entire collective of C & IT and Time Office were present with their families.
M Ravi, CEO congratulated the C & IT collective and emphasized on the need and usefulness of IT in the current Business Scenario. He reiterated his faith in the IT team and its capability to meet all IT challenges being faced in the current scenario of competitive steel market.
At the outset, the dignitaries were welcomed by bouquets followed by formal welcome by Atashi Pramanik, DGM (C & IT).
She highlighted the transformation of C & IT in the past five decades from data punching cards to e-Processing mode.
A detailed presentation was made by S K Bharadwaj, DGM (C & IT) who apprised the gathering about the journey of C & IT from 1963 to the current ERP & MES era. The activities of C & IT were presented by him with emphasis on C & IT’s presence in all areas of today’s business scenario ranging from Works, non-Works, Mines, Township, Education, Medical, Finance, Purchase and Personnel.
He also elaborated on the achievements of the department culminating recently with the successful implementation of GST and the launch of SRM7 of SAP, ERP on 31st July, 2017. He also apprised the house about the challenges faced by the department and the road ahead for IT dept and its personnel.
