BSP exerted pressure for OBC quota: Mayawati

Eying on the Other Backward Caste votes, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati claimed that their party was instrumental in mounting pressure for implementation of Mandal Commission report during the erstwhile Vishwanath Pratap Singh Government at Centre.

Addressing a massive public rally at Akaltara the BSP Supremo launched a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress and said both the political parties were against the reservations.

Congress lingered on the Mandal Commission report when they were in government while BJP played key role in the protests done after the implementation of the report, she said.

BJP also toppled the VP Singh government later by withdrawing support which was working for the uplift of suppressed, she claimed.

It was BSP which launched a massive movement for implementation of Mandal Commission report so that OBCs too could get reservations in education and job, she said.

Mayawati was campaigning in Akaltara for BSP candidate Richa Jogi, who is daughter-in-law of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) (J) Supremo Ajit Jogi, an alliance partner of BSP.
