Chief executive officer, Bhilai Steel Plant, AK Rath on Friday interacted on a one-to-one basis with young managers as part of the fourth edition of the ‘Abhilasha’, an initiative to connect with the young executives and understand their aspirations.
During the interaction the CEO heard young participants describe their own experiences, the BSP said in a press release on Saturday.
The CEO in turn also shared his experience and how he himself had fared in his early years in the organisation, the highs and lows of his life, the lessons he had learnt, both in his professional and personal life, and how he chose to move forward, the release added.
Rath said that a department or a situation cannot stop a person's growth. “If you want to grow no matter wherever you are you should have the will to grow,” he was quoted as saying.
He said that there is always help for people who are willing to ask for it.
Stating that change is the only constant in life, he advised young executives to always have a positive attitude towards a situation.
“Always try to grow yourself but without harming others. There are no limits to your abilities, it’s up to you to break your limits. All of you should be excellent technocrats first,” he added.
“It is important for each one of you to be an independent entity for your own growth. Don't allow someone else to control your thoughts. Face challenges head-on”, he said.
“Never waste a single day and keep adding value. Admit your failures. Learn to be independent of circumstances. Only then can you emerge stronger and grow professionally as leaders”, he said.
“Either we grow or perish”, he emphasised.
Be assertive without being aggressive, he advised the young managers, adding that rather than bluntly saying no, they must convince and reason with others why any particular job or work cannot be done.
As many as 20 young managers in the rank of managers and deputy managers were invited for the fourth session of Abhilasha at CEO conference hall on Friday.
