In another gesture as a mature politician Chief Minister designate Hemant Soren tweeted and requested visitors to bring books and not bouquets to him so that he can set up a rich library. Hemant, who is set to be sworn in as Chief Minister of Jharkhand on December 29, tweeted that the books will always spread knowledge and will remain in memory.
Posting a tweet from his official handle @HemantSorenJMM the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Eecutive President stated, “Friends, I am overwhelmed with the honour and love of the people of Jharkhand. But, I would like to make a request to you with folded hands — give me a book of your choice instead of a bouquet. I feel very bad that I am unable to keep your flowers properly.”
The CM designate further tweeted with a picture of a bunch of bouquets stating, “You give the books with your names written on them so that when I set up a library of the books presented by you, your gift of love will always spread knowledge among the masses.”
Notably, the junior Soren’s residence at Kanke Road is witnessing a sea of visitors every day after the results of Assembly Election 2019, were declared on December 23. Hundreds of party workers from far off areas of the State, supporters, people from social organisations, bureaucrats, scribes, students and women come with bouquets to greet the CM designate.
Replying to the tweet several people have said that it was a noble idea and have said that they would meet Hemant with books.
Many have even advised that the books could be donated to established libraries.
Soon after being nominated as the CM candidate by Grand Alliance partners, Hemant has been taking cool-headed decisions. First, he decided to withdraw a case against caretaker CM Raghubar Das, which he had lodged in Dumka for the latter’s casteist remark during election campaigning. On Friday, he urged people to gift books instead of bouquets and also invited caretaker CM Raghubar Das to take part in his swearing in ceremony on December 29, on which Das has given a confirmation.
Meanwhile, sources said that Hemant is likely to take oath of office and secrecy with three ministers on December 29 and rest of the Cabinet Ministers would be inducted after ‘Kharmas’ (January 14), which is considered an end of the inauspicious period in Hindu traditions.
Preparations for the oath ceremony are in full swing at Morhabadi Ground of Capital City. The function is set to be attended by a gamut of senior leaders alongwith thousands of party workers and supporters of JMM, Congress and RJD.
