Boy is safe, says CM

The minor boy who fell into a borewell dug at his residence in Janjgir-Champa district is safe even as efforts are on to rescue him, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday.

On Friday, the boy, Rahul of Pihrid village, met with the accident behind his house.

Baghel told the media that the boy was dumb and hard of hearing due to which he was not able to respond to calls being made from above. But he is safe, the Chief Minister asserted.

The Janjgir-Champa Collector and Superintendent of Police are continuously monitoring the situation. A robo-team from Gujarat is expected to reach the area. A rescue team from Odisha is already working.

Baghel expressed           disappointment over the defeat of the Congress       candidate, Ajay Maken, in the Haryana Rajya Sabha        elections.

But he underlined that all the 27 Congress MLAs who had moved to Raipur ahead of the elections to escape poaching by the BJP had voted for Maken.

The Chief Minister said the politics of polarization may benefit the BJP.

He said the                    demonstrations seen on Friday were a reaction to what two former BJP spokespersons said regarding Prophet Mohammad, causing outrage in the Islamic world.

Saying violence cannot be justified, he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the nation and the world. "The need of the hour is to maintain peace."

Regarding cancellation of coal mines, Baghel said the state government works as per the guidelines and          directives of the central        government. If cancellation of the mining right has to be done, people should approach the Centre.
