The body of youth who had jumped into Kharun River at Mahadev Ghat during immersion of idol of Goddess Durga was found on Sunday, police said.
Station House Officer (SHO), Deen Dayal Nagar, GP Pathak informed that body has been fished out. The deceased was identified as Vibhav Pal, a resident of Sanay Nagar Tikarapara.
The deceased along with his friends had gone to immerse the idol of goddess Durga in Mahadev Ghaton Saturday evening, the SHO said. Going by statement of the eyewitness, the SHO informed that Vibhav had possibly consumed liquor and had jumped from the bridge of Mahadev ghat while the idol was being immersed by crane. After some time when he did not surface, worried people at the spot informed the police.
Due to darkness the search operation could not be carried out and it was during the early hours of Sunday the divers started searching Vaibhav and soon his body was fished out, the SHO said.
