Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal on Tuesday launched the 'lok Suraaj' campaign at village lakhouli of Arang Development Block in Raipur district. He announced a series of development works in the block. The Minister promised  laying of a road to the village connecting the National Highway 53 and installation of transformer within 15 days.

He dedicated a veterinary hospital to the village and performed 'Bhoomipujan'  (ground-breaking ceremony) for a community hall and C.C.Road. Agrawal ordered the Public Health Engineering Department officers to solve the drinking water problem at Batapara and Stationpara as early as possible.

Arang MlA Naveen Markendaya, former MlA Sanja Deedi, lakhouli Gram  Panchayat Sarpanch Ogere, Director of Animal Husbandry Development Department Dr.S.K.Pande, Raipur Collector Thakur Ram Singh, Raipur Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Kiran Kaushal and a lot of senior officers were present at the choupal meeting.

Agrawal spoke to villagers and took a first-hand information of the ground situation in the region. 'lok Suraj' campaign is an amalgamation of earlier Gram Suraj and Nagar Suraj campaigns to redress the grievances of the remote areas, he said.

He called upon the concerned department officers to explain the pending issues before the common citizens. Most of the concerns were regarding the basic amenities.

Agrawal enquired with the Patwari, gram panchayat secretary, Anganwadi workers, Mitanins, health workers and Public Distribution  System about the functioning of the departments. The rural citizens said that they have no complaints with most of the State Government employees.

Agrawal expressed his satisfaction by stating that  most of the schemes are reaching the  masses. He called upon the women to concentrate on the education of their children and deliver their babies in State Government hospitals. The women health workers explained the benefits of medicare and delivery at institutions.

The school kids were asked about the free distribution of books, school uniforms and mid-day meals. The children told the gathering that they were receiving two pairs of school uniforms and free books. Agrawal said the problems of the villagers will be solved as soon as possible.

He sanctioned Rs 30 lakh for laying of road to lakhouli via Dharamkanta. New transformer will be installed within 15 days in the village to solve the perpetual problem of low voltage. Agrawal instructed the Agriculture Department officers to preserve enough fertilizer for the coming agriculture season.

Naveen Markendaya said lok Suraaj campaign will help in a direct dialogue between the people's representatives, officers and the common masses. It will help the administration in understanding the basic needs of citizens and  solving them.
