For ensuring minimal errors in the voters’ list, booth level officers (BlO) have been directed to conduct physical verification drive in their respective areas. The instructions were issued during a meeting chaired by Additional Collector Mahadev Kanwre here on Thursday to review the ongoing poll preparations scheduled in State by the end of this year.
The Additional Collector directed the BlOs to find cent percentage of voters increased or decreased in their respective areas. Giving clear cut directions he said names of those persons who are not living in the area for more than 6 months or have been moved to other place after marriage should be removed from the list.
If there is some opposition over removing of name then ‘Panchnama’ should be prepared and then process of removing names should be started. The booth level officers will have to also verify that name of person registered in list is actually eligible for voting or not.
Kanware further said that the entries in voter list like house number, name of voter, relation, age, epic number and photos are correct or not should be also verified by BlOs. They will have to ensure that any name in list is not duplicated. Further if any voter has died, transferred to other place due to marriage, business, job or other reasons then application for name removal could be received under form 07.
He also informed that any Indian citizen who has attained age of 18 years by January 1, 2013 and is living in any particular area for more than 6 months
including night stays but his name has not been registered in the voters’ list then application for adding their names could be received under form 6. In case of any correction in the voter list form-8
would have to be filled, Kanware informed.
