The possibility of Black Fungus recurring exists if a patient's diabetes is not under control or if the treatment has some shortcomings, the Chhattisgarh government said on Wednesday.
Therefore, patients need to be vigilant, Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), told the media here.
On reports of former Black Fungus patients reporting the disease again, Dr Mishra said there were chances for this.
The key reason is uncontrolled diabetes. Similarly, there are cases where patients have insisted on taking medicines by staying at home. In such cases the possibility of the Black Fungus recurring is higher.
Chhattisgarh has reported 378 cases of Black Fungus. A total of 189patients rae undergiong treatmemt.
Dr Mishra urged people not to panic due to shortage of vaccines to battle Covid-19. There is a margin period of four weeks for Covishield and 14 days for Covaxin vaccines, he said.
