Tension prevailed as hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists stormed the official residence of State Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel after burning his effigy and threw black ink in his house here on Monday evening.
The activists also got into heated exchange of words with the Congress legislative Party (ClP) leader TS Singhdeo who had reached the State Congress Chief’s residence, informed State Congress General Secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi
Irked over attack on the residence of State Congress Chief, the Congress party workers led by President of City Congress Vikas Upadhyay later tried to stage dharna and block the Shankar Nagar road.
According to Trivedi, when the incident occurred, Baghel was at his residence and Singhdeo was on way to discuss about strategy to be adopted on Tuesday in the State legislative Assembly. “The BJYM members misbehaved with the ClP leader,” Trivedi claimed.
State Government was cornered over Civil Supplies scam in the legislative Assembly and as reaction to it, they (BJYM activists) had tried to attack the State Congress Chief’s house, Trivedi said adding we strongly condemn the act.
Meanwhile ClP leader TS Singhdeo while reacting over the incident said “this is an attempt to divert the attention from Civil Supplies and other scams by using force and misbehaviour. They must understand that this is wrong and such behaviour could be done with anyone.”
“We have to use light force for dispersing the mob and the situation is under control. Over 20 persons from both the sides have been shifted to Central Jail,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) (Raipur) GP Singh informed.
