BJP wants total prohibition in C’garh

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday called on Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey demanding total prohibition in the state in line with the Congress election pledge and a ban on online sale and home delivery of liquor.

Submitting a representation to the Governor, the BJP leaders stated that prohibition was a key promise made to people on the basis of which the Congress came to power. But during this period of Covid-19 induced lockdown, home delivery of liquor has begun.

The BJP also wanted the government to release the balance amount of paddy procurement on minimum support price (MSP) immediately.

"Two years balance bonus of paddy was also promised to farmers, it should be released. The paddy procurement should commence from farmers issued token on February 19, 2020.”

On Chhattisgarh's workers stranded in other states, the BJP leaders said lakhs have been left to fend for themselves and accused the state government of lacking a strategic work plan to bring them back and provide relief.

As interim relief, each migrant worker must be given Rs 1,000, the BJP said. The leaders wanted smooth travel from other states to Chhattisgarh, alleging that some persons had to turn back.

The BJP leaders asked the government to make public the arrangements made by state government to tackle Covid-19.

They urged Governor to intervene, complaining that the government is not listening to the opposition.

The delegation included BJP state President Vikram Usendi, BJP national Vice President and former Chief Minister Raman Singh, national General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Saroj Pandey, BJP Tribal Cell national President and MP Ramvichar Netam and former ministers Brijmohan Agrawal and Ajay Chandrakar.
