The Bhojpuri mega super star Manoj Tiwari has put his weight behind BJP candidate from Durg, Saroj Pandey, in her effort to get the Chhattisgarhi language recognised by the Central Government here on Monday.
The actor who joined BJP recently said, he would support the efforts of Pandey in getting Chhattsigarhi language recognised by the Central Government under Schedule VIII of the Constitution.
He was in Durg to campaign for Saroj Pandey. During his road show, he said, the Congress had suppressed the voices of Chhattisgarhi and Bhojpuir speaking people that their languages did not get recognition under the constitution.
According to him, over two crore people spoke Chhattisgarhi and almost double numbers spoke Bhojpuri, but it was unfortunate that both languages did not have recognition.
He blamed the Congress for it and lauded the effort of Pandey for taking up the issue.
The road show of Tiwari amidst cheering crowed gave the impression on the roads of Bhilai, a mix of Bhojpuri and Chhattisgarhi.
Many people from the crowed also tried to get his autographs and even for getting photos clicked with him.
He also briefly joined street play urging the voters to vote for the BJP candidate for a stable government at the Centre under the leadership of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, addressing the crowed, saroj Pandey said even after being at the helm of the affairs in the country for well over five decades, the Congress brought no such remarkable development in Bhilai.
The town, she said made progress only after the BJP came to power in the state.
According to her, the state government under the leadership of Dr Raman Singh had given a package of Rs500 crore for its development and promised more if the BJP formed government at the Centre.
