BJP to hold farmers' awareness drive in C’garh

As part of a nationwide awareness drive about the ‘benefits’ of the three farm laws, district level press conferences will be held in Chhattisgarh on December 14 by the BJP to be followed by meetings with farmers the next day, Opposition Leader in the Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik said on Saturday.

Addressing the media with BJP state President Vishnudeo Sai, Kaushik said that after discussions with farmers at all procurement centres on December 15, where details existing in the centres will be sought, a social media campaign will be launched on December 16.

Kaushik said the Congress should clear the air on what they intended to reform as promised in its 2019 election manifesto and how it is different from the laws brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said all the allies of Congress including the NCP, DMK, Samajwadi Party and even the Left were part of the Standing Committee. Pawar as Agriculture Minister had written to all Chief Ministers on reforming the Agriculture Produce Market Committee in favour of the farmers.

Even the Akali Dal had been part of the bill process. Now, everyone has taken a U-turn for selfish reasons. The statements of the Congress and other parties reflect this “is the best chance to attack the government”.

Thus, they are fanning resentment after misleading the farmers, he said.

He said the political parties now fear the BJP as it has started implementing the promises made in the election manifesto. He listed the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA), the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A and the construction of a Ram Temple as examples.
