Chhattisgarh BJP will announce the candidate for Dantewada by-poll by September 1. The last date for filing of nomination papers is September 4 till 3.00 PM.
Filing of nomination papers for the September 23 by-poll began with the issue of notification.
BJP Bhatapara MLA and by-poll in-charge Shivratan Sharma who is on a tour to Bastar, interacting with media persons at Jagdalpur on Thursday said the party will announce its candidates by September 1.
He claimed that in the by-polls for Dantewada and Chitrakot, BJP will win because people have seen the eight months tenure of Congress government and are dejected by it. Who will win in the polls, the result will tell?, he added.
At present Shivratan Sharma, accompanied by former ministers Mahesh Gagda and Kedar Kashyap are visiting Bastar region interacting with party office bearers, ground level party leaders and workers to assess the ground situation.
BJP after death of its lone MLA from Bastar region Bhima Mandavi has been contemplating to field his wife Ojasvi Mandavi as party candidate. The Dantewada assembly seat fell vacant after Bhima was killed in a Naxal triggered blast while he was returning from a fair during the last leg of electioneering for the Bastar Lok Sabha seat. Four of his security guards were also killed in the incident.
