BJP suffers betrayals more than Congress

Following the polling, election review has been going on in the Congress and the BJP. It has come to the fore that in comparison to the BJP, issues of betrayals are lesser in the Congress.

According to sources, officially, election review in the BJP will be held on November 28 and 29.

All the candidates have been called for the review meeting. However, many candidates already have contacted Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and senior leaders of the party and told them of the names of the leaders who had betrayed the party.

Betrayal attempt had been made against State party president Ramsevak Paikara also and the hand of a big leader of the district is said to be behind it. Paikara said that cases of betrayal had come from most of the constituencies, but discussion on it would be held in the party meeting.

In comparison to the BJP, less number of case of betrayal has come to the fore against the Congress candidates, though the party had been going through factionalism before the election. Though attempts were made to inflict loss to leader of the opposition Ravindra Choubey, former state president Dhanendra Sahu and programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel, by fielding independents and candidates of other small parties, but the situation is satisfactory in most of the places.

State president Dr Charandas Mahant has collected information by discussing with party candidates from Bastar and Surguja divisions. According to party sources, the role of an ex-MP from Rajnandgaon was under suspicion. In Surguja division, the party fought the election unitedly with the significant role played by the party’s state vice-president TS Singhdeo. Not only the workers showed unity in the district, but campaigning has also been done in a systematic manner.

In Surguja, election meetings of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders were held, in which huge crowd gathered. The leaders claimed that in comparison to BJP, the party would get lead in Sarguja division because of the unity.

In Bastar division, the Congress is worried of some loss due to the rebels. Former minister Shankar Sodhi had entered in to the election battle from Kondagaon as independent. Besides, rebel candidates were in the field in Bijapur and Chitrakot also. Official candidates may suffer loss because of them. In Bilaspur division, except Beltara and Takhatpur, candidates have no complaints from any other constituencies.
