The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday came down heavily on State Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel for his alleged remark on Rajnandgaon MP Madhusudan Yadav.
BJP spokesman and party legislator Shivratan Sharma said the way Baghel described Chief Minister Raman Singh as the step-father of Yadav at a Congress party workers’ meeting demonstrated his ‘frustration’.
Sharma said the condition of the Congress has been deteriorating day by day and as a result Bhupesh Baghel seems to have lost his mental balance.Accusing him of making ‘low-grade’ statements, Sharma said the Congress is frustrated after the BJP fielded Abhishek Singh, son of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, for the Rajnandgaon seat.
"Everybody knows that it was Madhusudan Yadav who proposed and supported the candidature of Abhishek Yadav and also described him as the best candidate for the constituency,’’ Sharma said.
Reminding the Congress of being the oldest party, he said its leaders should be taught how to maintain decency while they make statements. "It was not the first time Baghel made such irresponsible, silly and rubbish statements. Earlier also he had made similar objectionable statements,’’ he said.
Sharma said the people of Chhattisgarh are known for their decency and graciousness. By making such unworthy comments the Congress president has tarnished the image of the State. Baghel should first learn to respect his own father, he said.
