The BJP on Monday denounced what it said was a lack of clarity on the format, objective and fiscal management of the ‘Godhan Nyay Scheme’ launched in Chhattisgarh on Monday to mark the ‘Hareli’ festival.
The Bharatiya Janata Party said the cow dung sellers will be paid in instalments, the way money was given to farmers in the state.
BJP spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane said in a statement that the state government has permitted sale of government lands. This will reduce space available for cattle rearing mainly in rural areas.
He said there is no clarity on the nitty-gritty of the cow dung procurement scheme, including its aim, how it will be implemented and from where and how funds will be made available to pay those selling cow dung to be made into vermi-compost.
Upasane alleged that all schemes of the state government launched without planning, policy and intention have crashed. He cited the example of ‘Roka-Cheka’, which led to the death of a large number of cattle on roads.
He added that to cover up its failures on governance, the state government launches such "flowery schemes".
