BJP should have rallied against Modi govt: Choubey

The Congress on Wednesday condemned the BJP for its protest against unemployment and other issues in Chhattisgarh, saying the rally should have been held against the Modi          government.

Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey and Urban Administration Minister Shiv Kumar Daharia said the Modi government had failed to fulfill its          promise of providing 2 crore employment each year.

Saying Chhattisgarh has the lowest unemployment rate in the country, the Congress leaders said 17 crore jobs might have been created since 2014 if only Prime Minister Narendra Modi had kept the BJP election promise.

“It is beyond imagination that BJP leaders were protesting against unemployment in a state which has the lowest unemployment rate,” Choubey said.

As per official figures, the Modi government has provided 7.25 lakh employment in eight-and-a-half years while the Baghel government has created 5 lakh jobs in three-and-a-half years, the Minister said.

There are over 22 lakh members registered with the Chhattisgarh Employee Provident Fund, an increase of 4.8 lakh new employees. "This is proof that we have provided more than 5 lakh employment in the state."
