The Bharatiya Janata Party's legal Cell for Bastar lok Sabha region has demanded registration of a criminal case against Congress party's candidate Deepak Karma while alleging that he provided false details in his affidavit during filing of nomination for his candidature for Bastar lok Sabha seat.
The party's legal Cell has written a letter to the Superintendent of Police, Jagdalpur while demanding registration of criminal case against Karma.
In the letter, the legal Cell has informed that in the affidavit produced under 'Form-26' enclosed with his nomination, the Congress candidate Deepak Karma had concealed many important facts and given ambiguous information.
The legal Cell in a press release issued here, stated that the party had also made a written complaint to the District Electoral Officer in this regard.
Key allegations levelled by the party are – Deepak Karma had not mentioned the name of school etc in the column of educational qualification in the affidavit. Secondly, there is no mention of 'dependant'.
Karma had allegedly not mentioned the name of the bank and account number under remark-5. He had also not mentioned the details of the agricultural land in his portion of 'Patwari Halka Number 5' in Aghanpur village, it stated.
In the reply furnished by the candidate, it has been said that in the affidavit, mention of the said land had been made in the registry of 1.68 hectare land in the name of Kangoli. Since the land under objection situated in Aghanpur village and Kangoli is another village, the land area mentioned in the affidavit in the name of the candidate does not tally.
The BJP legal Cell said that it was made clear that the candidate had not included the information in the affidavit.
When contacted Karma said that his father had bought 10 acres of land in Kangoli in 1992-93 which was divided equally among the three brothers. “But I do not know how much land did my father buy in Aghanpur village.”
He said that he has all the bank account related information and has no problem in furnishing them. Karma said that he has given information regarding his educational qualifications but did not mention his school’s name and will provide information on the same.
