The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday urged the Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner to cancel election in ward 28 of the Birgaon Municipal Corporation, alleging the presence of a large number of fake voters.
A delegation led by Birgaon election in-charge and former Minister Ajay Chandrakar pointed out to State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh, that in the Mohammed Abdul Rauf Ward, numbers 381, 382, 383 and 384 were shown to house 32, 240, 60 and 120 voters respectively.
BJP leaders said it is impossible that a single house can have such a large number of electors. The party raised doubts over largescale bogus voting on polling day on December 20.
The delegation demanded that the electoral roll should be probed to identify the fake electors. Before that, polling in the ward should be canceled.
