The State BJP has dug up a 17-year-old complaint of corruption in diamond and Alexandrite mining in Devbhog against the Congress candidate, Satyanarayan Sharma. The party said that after forming a government at the Centre, the probe would be initiated into the complaint of corruption against Sharma.
State BJP spokesperson Sanjay Shrivastava told a press conference here on Saturday that many people had complained to the PMO against Sharma of corruption in the allotment of diamond and Alexandrite mines in Devbhog while he was the mining minister in the undivided Madhya Pradesh government.
The principal secretary of the then prime minister IK Gujral, NN Vohra, had written a letter in this regard to the then chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh and had sought action on the complaint. The BJP spokesperson said that a complaint of a scam, involving Rs 500 crore worth diamond and Alexandrite from the diamond mines, had been made. No action had been taken on this complaint. After forming BJP government at the Centre, a probe into this complaint would be initiated.
He said that this complaint had come into his notice only recently and hence this issue was being highlighted now.Replying to a question, the BJP spokesperson said that there were no complaints against the BJP candidate Ramesh Bais. Hence, the Congress has been trying to spread confusion by accusing him of inaction.
From Delhi to Bhopal and Raipur, established leaders of the Congress have been deserting the party. The Congress has been striving hard to save the party, whereas the BJP is trying to save the country, he said.
