BJP protests on reservation issue

Published on:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday staged a protest against the Congress for creating              confusion regarding the reservation and conversion issues in Chhattisgarh.

Staging a protest near the statue of Dr B. R Ambedkar before the Raipur Collector’s office, BJP state President Arun Sao and Leader of Opposition Narayan Chandel hit out at the Congress government.

Sao said when the BJP ruled the state, the High Court held one hearing on the issue from 2012 to 2018 while from 2018 to September 2022 there were 14 hearings.

It is the Congress                government which could not defend the bill brought by the BJP government. On September 19, 2022, the High Court had annulled it.

Chandel said that just before the Bhanupratappur by-election, an assembly                 session was called and                      reservation were made for Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Class and Economically Weaker Sections by passing two bills.

Even after several                complaints lodged against religious conversion in tribal areas, the government sat over it. This led to the Narayanpur incident, he added.
