The Opposition Congress on Friday demanded an apology from ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while holding it responsible for the May 25 Maoist attack last year in Jeeram valley in which several Congress leaders, workers besides security personnel were killed.
Reacting on the partial report of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) which had been submitted by it to the Union Home Ministry, State Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel said it was the ruling party people who were at the helm and had allegedly played a role in the incident.
Now the BJP leaders must apologise to the people of the State and to the family of those Congress leaders who were killed in the attack. He also said the way the State Government has submitted its reply to the Congress party lawyer Sankalp Dubey after the NIA report being made public, it raises suspicions.
Ahead of the Jeeram valley attack, security arrangements had been made at Dantewada but why did the Government removed the security arrangements between Sukma and Darbha, he asked.
Soon after the completion of the Vikas Yatra by the BJP, the Congress had organised the ‘Parivartan rally’. Although the Maoists had threatened to disrupt it, no security arrangement was in place, he alleged.
