Battle lines are being drawn in the political sphere of Chhattisgarh with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulling up its socks for winning all the 11 seats in the ensuing lok Sabha polls in the State.
In the 2009 lok Sabha polls, the BJP won 10 seats and Congress just one seat (Korba) in Chhattisgarh. Immediately after the Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh had called upon the party workers to get out of the winning euphoria of Assembly poll battle won and start preparing for a bigger task of winning all the 11 lok Sabha seats in the State.
With the Congress improving its tally significantly from the 2008 Assembly polls during the 2013 polls in Chhattisgarh by winning 39 Assembly seats with the BJP winning 49 in the 90 seat Chhattisgarh Assembly, the BJP is taking no chances and mobilising its workers to go for a ‘clean sweep’ of seats during the lok Sabha polls.
As a consequence, with a view to keeping the morale of the party workers high in the run up to the lok Sabha polls, thousands of party workers from across Raipur lok Sabha region would gather for a ‘worker convention’ at Silver Spring near VIP Road on Tuesday.
The convention would be addressed by senior State and national level party leaders prominent among them would be BJP National General Secretary and In-charge of Chhattisgarh JP Nadda and Chief Minister Raman
Singh besides other senior party functionaries. The party leaders are expected to take up key regional issues among the party's national agenda of projecting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate during their address to the workers at the convention.
The Raipur lok Sabha region has BJP’s three key units operating mainly-Raipur City, Raipur Rural and Balodabazar-Bhatapara.The convention would help workers discuss poll strategies with the senior leaders and implement them in their own regions, party sources here informed.
The worker convention is being held in every lok Sabha constituency of the State and the last one was held in Jagdalpur district headquarters a day earlier where hundreds of party workers had arrived to listen to the senior leaders of the party including Chief Minister Raman Singh.
The party workers have put up around 10,000 chairs at the venue of the worker convention in Raipur while expecting a huge turnout of workers.
