BJP lodges protest with SEC against district electoral officers

Chhattisgarh BJP in a complaint lodged with the State Election Commission has objected over the mandatory seeking of caste             certificate along with the              nomination form by civic body   election officials and forcing candidates to file nomination online.

Lodging the complaint on Thursday, BJP State Local Election Committee members said that candidates are being forced to produce certificate of their social status/caste certificate, non-acceptance of form and directing to file the nomination online mainly in districts of Bilaspur, Surguja, Jagdalpur, Dantewada, Koriya and Janjgir-Champa.

The State Election Commissioner and its office were intimated of the incidents. The party leaders pointed out both actions by district electoral officers are against the legal framework and violation of the candidates’ constitutional rights.

The letter urged the State Election Commissioner to issue directive to all the district election officers not to force the candidates to submit their social status/caste     certificates and not to compel them to file nomination through online.
