Congress leader Pawan Khera on Saturday accused the BJP of having links with terrorists and said the saffron party is allegedly playing a disgusting game to hollow the country under the guise of nationalism.

Addressing a press conference here, AICC media department head Khera said the BJP’s links with individuals accused in recent heinous crimes and terror acts has exposed the party.

The Congress is against doing politics on the issue of terrorism. But the way the links of terrorists and criminals with the BJP are coming to light, it is vital to ask questions and put facts before the people, he said.

In the garb of nationalism, the BJP is playing a disgusting game to hollow the country, he said.

The killing of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Rajasthan’s Udaipur was a terrorist   incident. Riyaz Attari, one of the main accused in the murder, was a BJP member since 2019.

In Jammu and Kashmir, villager apprehended two terrorists who were planning to attack Amarnath Yatra. One of them was Talib Hussain Shah, who was an office-bearer of the BJP’s minority cell in Kashmir.

Irfan Khan, the alleged mastermind of chemist Umesh Kolhe’s murder in Maharashtra, had campaigned for independent MP Navneet Rana, whose links with the BJP is better known to the media then me, he added.

"It is surprising that Nupur Sharma and Riyaz Attari both belong to BJP. When India will become ‘atmanirbhar’ (self reliant) that we don’t know but the BJP has become atmanirbhar as far as terrorism is concerned," he alleged.

Khera also cited other terrorist incidents happened in the country and said those arrested had connections with the BJP.

He accused the BJP of trying to divert peoples’ attention from critical issues like unemployment, price rise and economic  mismanagement and said it wants to create an         atmosphere of hatred.
