BJP grooms candidates for facing the limelight

Even as the countdown for the counting of votes started for the Chhattisgarh Assembly polls, the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders  have been giving ‘grooming’ lessons to the first time candidates of all the 90 Assembly seats on coping with the expected overwhelming media and public attention on them in the ‘hour of victory’ in their respective constituencies.

Party sources here said that the first timers, among the candidates, are being groomed into how they must present themselves and talk when facing a volley of questions from mediapersons and the general public after a victory.

The party wants to make the candidates comfortable with the public attention and the media glare they receive for the first time which is sometimes very overwhelming for many of the young candidates who find it difficult to handle the huge focus and attention on them.

The senior leaders of the party had even been helping many of the young candidates learn the art of dressing up and not being nervous when confronted with a volley of questions and sometimes even accusations by the Opposition leaders.

Interestingly, the entire ‘grooming session’ is taking place telephonically where the candidates are offered advice by the senior leaders to handle particularly the overwhelming attention on them on their victory .

Some of the senior leaders have even held a one-to-one meeting with the candidates to tell them their experience of handling the public attention.
