BJP flays Chandora custodial death

Published on:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday condemned the death of a youth named Krishna in the custody of Chandora police station, terming the incident shameful for the state and the police administration.

BJP state spokesperson and former MLA Shrichand Sunderani in a statement said the incident reflects the prevailing law-and-order condition in the state. He alleged that for political vendetta the police administration is being used. Additional to it, the regular transfer of police personnel is directly affecting the law and order.

The BJP leader claimed that police officials are also not interested in discharging their duties as had been evident from the fact that a Town Inspector was found seeking money for filing an FIR. Instead of acting on major crimes, police are more interested in taking people to custody for minor crimes.

The crime graph after Congress government came to power has shot up, the BJP leader said. He felt the action taken against 10 police personnel is inadequate. He said instead detailed probe should be initiated and stern action should be taken.

On what ground the deceased was kept in police custody should be probed, he said.
