Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Dharamlal Kaushik on Friday criticized the state government’s policy of free distribution of ration through PDS shops, terming it as a deception.
The state government is indulging in trading of rice through the panchayat and civic bodies, Kaushik said in a statement.
The government is charging Rs 32.00 per kg of rice from the panchayat while from the urban bodies, it charging Rs 33.13 per kg, he said.
“It means that the state government is selling rice to the local self-governing bodies from the state civil supplies corporation. In the open market, the price of rice is less than what the government is charging,” Kaushik said.
The BJP leader said then it can never be said to be free distribution, when the local self-governing bodies are paying for it.
On issuing of ration cards, he said, earlier the state government said all ration cards have been made. Now, from where did the people not holding ration card have emerged?
“It is double flip-flop on the part of the state government, which it should clarify,” he said.
Kaushik also said that the BJP will constitute an internal three-member committee to probe into the alleged suicide of a young sarpanch in the assembly constituency of the chief minister on Thursday.
Terming the incident on occasion of the ‘National Panchayati Raj Day’ as most unfortunate, he said, “A human being makes all efforts to survive but is forced to take extreme step when left with no other option or his voice goes unheard.
