A meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party Election Committee was convened here at its state office Kushabhau Thakre premises on Sunday which discussed the possible names for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in the state.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, National Joint General Secretary Saudan Singh, State BJP President Dharamlal Kaushik, State Organisation General Secretary, Pawan Sai were prominently present in the meeting.
The Rajya Sabha berth is vacating in the state, as one of the Rajya Sabha members from Chhattisgarh Bhushanlal Jangde is completing his term on April 2.
BJP State President Dharamlal Kaushik talking to The Pioneer revealed the election committee meeting which held on Sunday late evening prepared a panel of possible names which would be forwarded to the Central Election Committee of the party for its approval.
Kaushik, however, ruled out possibility of any ‘Outsider’ given the Rajya Sabha berth from the state. He also denied that the party was looking for a Scheduled Caste candidate as the retiring candidate Jangde belonged to that category.
