BJP demands high level probe

Published on:

Chhattisgarh BJP President Vishnudeo Sai on Thursday demanded a high-level probe into the death of a two-year-old child in village Bhagwanpur in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district due to hunger. The child was from a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) in the state.

Sai said in a statement that stern action should be taken against those responsible for the tragedy.

Pulling up the state government, he said that malnutrition induced deaths of children were now being reported in Chhattisgarh due to impractical decisions taken amid Covid-19.

He said the death has revealed the reality behind the government's claim of reducing malnutrition in the state.

Sai said the child's family had been forced to beg to  survive as it did not have a ration card. The government officials failed to ensure a ration card to the family that could have helped it to enjoy benefits under different official schemes.

The BJP leader sought assistance to the victim's Family so that it gets to benefit from all government schemes.
