BJP’s national president Rajnath Singh has slammed the Congress for its wrong economic policies that could not even alleviate poverty even after ruling the country for decades. He was addressing a mammoth public meeting at Gandai, under Rajnandgaon lok Sabha constituency, on Thursday.
Singh said, “I have not come to ask for vote, but for a bright future for the country”.The country, he said, was witnessing a huge wave from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in favour of the BJP.
Comparing the decade-long rule of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre with the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA), Singh remarked, “BJP ruled the country better”.
The UPA government, he said, indulged in Rs 5.50 lakh crore corruption, adding, the people were fed up with the Congress on account of the scams and price rise on a regular basis. Even the country’s security and self-respect were at stake under the current dispensation at the Centre and even took a dig at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his stand that he (Gandhi) did not believe in politics of vengeance.
He also accused Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi of not doing anything even when the “Pakistani soldiers chopped off the heads of our soldiers”. He also lauded Chief Minister Raman Singh for his exemplary track record of development in the State and for the welfare schemes of rice at Re 1 per kg for the poor, smart card for treatment to the poor, distributing cycle to the girls from poor families to attend schools and even paying for their marriages among other things.
According to him, it was time for them to choose a strong government under the able leadership of party’s designated prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Party candidate Abhishek Singh also urged the people to vote for him to establish a strong government at the Centre and promised to work for their welfare and the development of the area.
