Chhattisgarh PCC President Mohan Markam on Sunday alleged that the BJP candidate for the Bhanupratappur by-election hid the fact that he has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Jharkhand.
Markam told the media said that Brahmanand Netam has been booked for rape and for pushing a minor into prostitution on May 15, 2019. It was the period when the BJP was in power in Jharkhand.
He said while filing the nomination papers, the candidate did not mention this criminal case. During investigation, the names of the five more persons involved were added in the FIR. One of them is the BJP candidate.
He said BJP has lost all morality by nominating such a candidate.
He said a complaint will be registered with the Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh seeking his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Legal Cell of CPCC has registered a complaint against Brahmanand Netam with the Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh.
The complaint also states that on the day of filing of nomination, the candidate was accompanied by more than 10 people instead of the prescribed five persons.
The complaint sought action against the BJP candidate for violation of the election model code of conduct.
