Chhattisgarh BJP president Vikram Usendi has sought to know why the state government failed to submit a chargesheet against Naxal national coordinator Nakka Rao within the specified period, allowing him the opportunity to get bail.
In a statement the BJP president said when allegation of hatching conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi was there against the person, why such a leniency was shown to him.
Commenting on Bhupesh Baghel’s statement criticising detention of economist and social activist Jean Dreze, Usendi said Dreze was an advisor to the former Congress party chief.
“ Baghel has been elected by the people of Chhattisgarh for its development and progress, and not to become a courtier,” he said.
Usendi said at a time when the law-and-order situation in Chhattisgarh was deteriorating, the chief minister should not be bothered about the issue concerning Jharkhand.
He adds, Congress was making hue and cry over the issue as Dreze was associated with the party.
“But the truth is that without seeking permission from the election commission, a meeting was organised and for that Dreze was arrested. He was later released on bail,” the BJP leader said.
Usendi said that no one is above the law of the land, irrespective of their political affiliation.
