BJP alleges losses due to damage to paddy

The Chhattisgarh BJP farmers’ unit has criticized the state government for the damage done to paddy at procurement centres due to rains, causing heavy losses to the state exchequer. BJP Kisan Morcha former state President Sandeep Sharma said in a statement that tonnes of stored paddy had been damaged across the state due to laxity on the part of the government during rains, both during procurement and later.

He alleged that the government and its officials are now trying to cover up of the colossal loss by trying to show it as zero shortage.

The BJP leader said that lifting of the buffer stock within 72 hours as per agreement was not followed across the state. Now the government is pressurizing the primary cooperative committees to write off the damage.

Even after six months of getting the paddy, the total accounts of procurement have not been settled, he stated.
