The flying squad team has seized 35 bags of publicity materials of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with the transporting vehicle at Surmi square during checking here.
The vehicle’s driver and his assistant are being questioned after taking them into custody.
As per the driver, the materials mainly cap, scarf, T-shirt, banner, bag and other publicity materials having BJP’s party symbol was to be taken from BJP’s Baikunthpur office to Chirmiri office.
The vehicle with materials has been sent to City Kotwali, Baikunthpur after seizure.
Flying squad team In-charge and SDO A. M. Phulkar said that at around midnight on Tuesday, the Chirmiri and Baikuntpur team were checking the vehicles when the seizure was made. The driver was not carrying any documents related to the materials being transported in the vehicle.
The police officials said that as the driver and his assistant was asked just to drop the materials at destination, the search for the person having given the assignment to the driver has begun, so that action can be initiated.
