The polls for Birgaon Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Raipur district will be held on November 16 this year, State Election Commissioner P C Dalei announced on Saturday.
Addressing a Press conference, Dalei said that results of the polls would be declared on November 19.
The nomination filing for Mayor and 40 wards posts will be commence from October 26 and last date for filling nomination will be November 2, he informed, adding, the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on November 3 whereas the last date for nomination withdrawal is November 5.
The code of conduct for the civic body polls comes into force with the announcement of the election programme on Saturday, Dalei said.
He further informed that as many as 78,707 voters, including 35,041 females and 43,666 male voters, have been enrolled for election of corporators in 40 wards and Mayor in BMC.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the election for which 79 polling centers will be set up, Dalei said.
For transparent and incident-free conduct of polls, necessary directives have been issued to Raipur District Collector and District Electoral Officer, he said.
