Biodiversity Park key to environmental protection: CM

Published on:

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said the proposed Biodiversity Park will be key to protecting the environment besides enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings.

He was addressing the virtual ‘bhoomi pujan’ event of the Biodiversity Park in village Funda in Patan Tehsil in Durg district from his residence-cum-office here, an official communication stated.

The Biodiversity Park will be developed in 20 acres using Japanese Miyawaki Technique (planting native species of plants close to each other). Around 3,000 saplings of more than 100 species will be planted. It will include sandalwood.

The multi-faceted scheme will generate employment to locals, he said.

Forest and Climate Change Minister Mohammed Akbar said the project will be completed at cost of Rs 80 lakhs in five years.

The Japanese Miyawaki Technique involves planting different species close to one another for natural faster growth. After three years, it becomes maintenance free.
